ಕೃತಯುಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಧರ್ಮ-ಅಧರ್ಮಗಳು ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವು
ತ್ರೇತಾಯುಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಧರ್ಮ-ಅಧರ್ಮಗಳು ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವು
ದ್ವಾಪರಯುಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಧರ್ಮ-ಅಧರ್ಮಗಳು ಒಂದೇ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವು.
ಕಲಿಯುಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಧರ್ಮ-ಅಧರ್ಮಗಳು ಒಬ್ಬರಲ್ಲೇ ಇವೆ !!

ಆ ವಿಷ್ಣು ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರಲ್ಲೂ ಕಲ್ಕಿಯಾಗಿ ಯಾವಾಗ ಅವತರಿಸುತ್ತಾನೋ ನಾ ಕಾಣೆ......

Tale of a 'Bangalore Tree'

Bangalore is (rather was) known as "The Garden City" because of the trees that make Bangalore greener than any other city in India. The trees of Bangalore have become the victims of the rapid Urbanization. Everyday the trees are being felled. In almost every small road. the trees are being felled. Here is the reason why it is being done...

A Big, Green road side Tree.... :)


Since the Vehicles increase, the authorities expand road, cut the branch which has spread over the road... :(


Now the Electric Poles!!! The Electricity people come and chop the branches which have spread over the Electric Wires .... :(


Now comes a Big Shopping Complex.... The builders chop the branches which has spread over the building site ..... :(


Now only the tree trunk remains ... :( ... Even if the tree grows again, people will not allow it to grow... :( ... One final day the tree gives up and goes dry. People cut down the tree to the full extent.. and thus the life of a "Bangalore tree" ends sadly.....

Here are the other reasons why the Bangalore trees just cannot survive ...

• The Telecom authorities, while laying the Optical Fibre Cables cut down almost all the strong roots of the tree. A tree needs atleast 70% to survive winds and rains. So When it rains heavily or Winds blow strongly, the tree just cannot balance, the tree falls down.. So another Sad ending.... :(
• Another blunder, by laying concrete on all foot paths. If there are no open spaces for soil, the how can water enter the soil ? How does the tree get the water then ???? Tree goes dry or gets disease... and dies... another sad ending .... :(

BLAME IT ON PLANNING !!!! Trees do not have space to grow in this exploding Metrpolis ... Why cannot the City Planners reserve some area on each end of the road for the trees to go grow... A City needs a healthy population for its growth... Population will be healthy with proper supply of Oxygen and less pollution. Trees serve both the purposes.

If this is the way Bangalore is going to treat its Trees, then it is SURELY on the path of its decline!!!!

ಬಂದ್ !!!

ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 4ನೇ ತಾರೀಖು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಬಂದ್ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಯಶಸ್ವಿ ಕೂಡ ಅಯಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಬಂದ್ ಮಾಡಿದ ಉದ್ದೇಶಗಳು ಈಡೇರುತ್ತದೋ ಇಲ್ಲವೋ, ಕಾದು ನೋಡಬೇಕು. ಬಹುಶಃ ಆ ಬಂದ್ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಸೂಚನೆ "ಕರ್ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ಏನಾದರೋ ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನ್ಯಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಮುಂದಿನ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗೆಲ್ಲುವುದಿಲ್ಲ" ಎಂದು ನನ್ನ ಅನಿಸಿಕೆ. ಏನೇ ಇರಲಿ, ಆ ವಿಷಯ ಪಕ್ಕಕ್ಕಿಡೋಣ.

ಒಂದು ಸ್ವಾರಸ್ಯಕರ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು ನಾನು ಬಂದ್‍ನಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡಿದೆ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಪರ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅಂಟಿಸಿದ್ದ ಭಿತ್ತಿ ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಓದಿದರೆ, ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಕಾಣುವಂತಹ ವಾಕ್ಯ "ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ತೋರುತ್ತಿರುವ ಮಲತಾಯಿ ಧೋರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಖಂಡಿಸಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಬಂದ್". ನನಗೆ ಈ ವಾಕ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡು ಬಂದ ಸ್ವಾರಸ್ಯಕರ ಪದ 'ಮಲತಾಯಿ ಧೋರಣೆ'. ನಾವು ಏನಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ಪದವನ್ನು ಈ ತರಹದ ಸ್ಠಿತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಸುತ್ತೇವೆ ?? ಮಲ ತಾಯಂದಿರನ್ನು ಈ ತರಹದ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳಿಗೆ Branded ಮಾಡಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವಲ್ಲವೆ ?? ಕೆಲ ಮಲತಾಯಂದಿರು Partiality ಮಾಡಬಹುದು. ಅಂಥವರನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕೂಡ ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಟೀವಿ ದಾರಾವಾಹಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡ ಅದನ್ನೇ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ನೋಡಿ, ಕೆಲವರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಜನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮಲತಾಯಂದಿರೂ Partiality ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ ಅಂತ ಪಟ್ಟ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ !!! ಇದೇ ರೀತಿ ಇನ್ನು ಹಲವು ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡಬಹುದು. ರಾಜ್‍ಕುಮಾರ್ ನಿಧನರಾದಾಗ ನಡೆದ ಗಲಾಟೆಯಿಂದ, ಹೊರಗಿನವರು ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹೀಗೆ ಎಂದು ಕರೆದಿದ್ದರು!!. ನೋಡಿ ಜನ ಕೆಲವರನ್ನ ನೋಡಿ ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಹೇಗೆ Generalise ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ !! ಇರಲಿ ಬಿಡಿ ... ಬಂದ್‍ ದಿನದ ಅಪರೂಪದ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳು ಇನ್ನೂ ಇವೆ.

ಬಂದ್ ದಿನದ ರಜೆ ಅಂದರೆ, ಎನೋ ಒಂದು ತರಹದ Uneasyness. ಮಾಡಲು ಏನೂ ಕೆಲಸವಿರೋದಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೊರಗೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕಾಣದ Calmness. ಒಂದು ತರಹ Uneasy Calm. ಹೊರಗೆ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ Vehicleಗಳ ಅಬ್ಬರ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಬಂದ್ ದಿನ ಎಷ್ಟು ಹೊತ್ತಾದರೂ ಸಮಯವೇ ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಟೀವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡ ಬಹುಪಾಲು ಚಾನೆಲ್‍ಗಳೂ ಬಂದ್. ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡಿದರೂ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ನಿಶ್ಯಬ್ಧ. ಬಹುಶಃ ನಾನು Hostel ಬಿಟ್ಟ ಮೇಲೆ, ತುಂಬ ದಿನಗಳ ನಂತರ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳ ಚಿಲಿ-ಪಿಲಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದೆ. ದಿನಾ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳ ಚಿಲಿ-ಪಿಲಿ ಇದ್ದರೂ, ಹೊರಗಿನ ಗಲಾಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅದು ಕೇಳುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ !! ನಾವು ಅದನ್ನೇ ಗಮನ ಇಟ್ಟು ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಮಗೆ ಅಷ್ಟು ಸಮಯ, ಸಂಯಮ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ? ಈ ದಿನಗಳ ವೇಗದ ಬದುಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಕೆಲಸವಲ್ಲದೇ, ಇನ್ನೂ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಪಂಚ ಇದೆ. ಮರ, ಗಿಡ, ಹಕ್ಕಿ, ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳೂ ಇವೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಮರೆತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಅಥವಾ ನಮಗೆ ಆ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಲ ಕಳೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಯ ಇಲ್ಲದಾಗಿದೆ.

ಚಿಕ್ಕವರಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ಜೀವನವೇ ಒಂದು ಆನಂದ. ಆಟ-ಪಾಠ, ದಸರಾ, ಬೇಸಿಗೆಯ ರಜೆಗಳು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ಜೊತೆ ಕಾಲ ಕಳೆಯಲು ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಸಮಯ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ದೊಡ್ಡವರಾಗುತ್ತಾ, ಆ ರಜಾ ದಿನಗಳೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಜೊತೆ ಕಾಲ ಕಳೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಯವೂ ಇಲ್ಲದಂತಾಗಿದೆ.

ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಗೋಪಾಲ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಅಡಿಗರು 'ಯಾವ ಮೋಹನ ಮುರಳಿ'ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು - "ಇರುವುದೆಲ್ಲವ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಇರದುದರೆಡೆಗೆ ನಡೆವುದೇ ಜೀವನ'. ಈ ವಾಕ್ಯ ಎಷ್ಟು ನಿಜ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ !!!

"India Innovates"

I think I am a huge TV Buff. I dont watch films or 'Saas-Bahu' serials. I watch documentaries, comedy shows, some great programmes on Discovery Travel and Living. I used to watch news channels before, but less now. All the news channels just hype some news, and go on and on on it!!

This blog is about a great programme called "India Innovates" in NDTV. It is programme focused on innovations in Rural India. These innovations are such simple ideas, but if put to daily use, they are of great value!! The inputs of this programme is provided by National Innovation Foundation, Ahmedabad, which recognises and supports such grass root level innovations.

One of the innovations I saw in this programme was of a Motor Bike which runs on a Battery, which does not need any RECHARGING !!!! Isn't this something unrealistic. But it is real. This Innovation is from Mr. Sahu ( forgot the first name) , Orissa.

He has changed a Rajdoot Motor Cycle to run on Battery with 2 gears. The Motor Cycle runs on this battery power. But the next one is the big thing which makes this Motor cycle unique. The Battery gets recharged by the Dynamo which generates electricity from rotating wheels, and is fitted into the Motor Cycle. So the energy comes a FULL CIRCLE !!!! How amazing it is !!!

This small idea is THE solution for the sky rocketing Oil Prices, Environmental concerns. The motor cycle just needs the one time investment for Battery and the Dynamo. But I have a QUESTION. Didn't any body think about this conversion of the rotational energy back to battery ?? Why hasn't any company released such a motor cycle yet to the market ?? Is there any danger in such a set up ??

Anyway, I am just waiting to see such a Motor Cycle in the market !!!!

Wikipedia - The Eighth Wonder !!

Wikipedia - The destination for all types of Information in different areas !!

I just wonder how Wikipedia became such a big thing.... Such a simple idea, but such a useful one for every one. I bypass Google now a days and directly go to Wikipedia, which gurantees me of sufficient first hand information...

Now Wikipedia is growing on a fast scale, in so many languages, so many areas..

Wikipedia logo signifies the open globe signifying the never ending collection of Information and the indefinite task. It also signifies the languages of the world, which inturn signify the regions which make up the world !!

But the logo has a problem with the first alphabet of the word 'Wikipedia' in different languages, probably specifically with respect to Asian languages. See the Hindi alphabet 'वि' wrongly displayed ( which often happens in firefox if the Arabic Language support is not installed in Windows XP). This is also the case with Kannada, Tamil Languages. I think wikipedia should correct this error in its logo.

ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿ v/s ವಿಜಯ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ

ಇದು ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಅಮ್ಮನ ಜೊತೆ ಸದಾ ನಡೆಯುವ ವಾಗ್ವಾದದ ವಿಷಯ !!
ನಾನು ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿಯ ಕಡೆ, ನನ್ನ ಅಮ್ಮ ವಿಜಯ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಕಡೆ !!!

ನನಗೂ ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿಗೂ ಅದೇನೋ ನಂಟು. ಯಾವ ತರಹದ ನಂಟು, ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ....

ಬಾಲ್ಯದಿಂದಲೂ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿ ಓದುವ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ. ಈಗಲೂ ಕೂಡ Online e-paper ಓದುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿಯ ಪುಟಗಳು, ಅದರ ಪುರವಣಿಗಳು ಅದೇನೊ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಮುದ ನೀಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿಯ fonts, typeset ಗೆ ನಾನು ಬಹುಶಃ ಹೊಂದಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. 'ಸಾಪ್ತಾಹಿಕ ಪುರವಣಿ', 'ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಮನೋರಂಜನೆ', 'ಸಿನೆಮಾ ರಂಜನೆ' ಪುರವಣಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ತಿಯಾಗಿ ಓದುತ್ತೇನೆ. ವೆಂಕಟಸುಬ್ಬಯ್ಯನವರ 'ಇಗೋ ಕನ್ನಡ', ವಾಸುದೇವರ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಲೇಖನಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡ. ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿ 50 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ತನ್ನ ಘನತೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಅದು Impartial ಕೂಡ ಹೌದು ಅನ್ನೋದು ನನ್ನ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ. ಅದರ ಸುದ್ದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಏನೋ ಒಂದು ಸಮಗ್ರತೆ ಇದೆ, ಒಂದು ಘನತೆ ಇದೆ.


ಇನ್ನು ವಿಜಯ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ವಿಷಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರೆ, ಮೊದಲನೆಯದಾಗಿ, ಪಕ್ಕಾ Business Minded, Partial. ಬಹುಶಃ ಅದು ತನ್ನ Circulation ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಂದಿದ್ದು ತನ್ನ 'ರೂ 1' ತಂತ್ರದಿಂದ. ವಿಜಯ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಈಗ Times of India ಒಡೆತನಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಯಾಯ್ತು. ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಹೇಗೋ ಏನೋ.... ಕಳೆದ ವಿಧಾನಸಭಾ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜಯ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸುದ್ದಿಗಳು, ಲೇಖನಗಳನ್ನು ನೊಡಿದರೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಸಿಟ್ಟು ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ಪೂರ್ತಿ 'ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡು' ಪಾರ್ಟಿಯ ವಿಷಯಗಳೇ!!! ಅದನ್ನು ಯಾರು ಓದುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೋ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ !! ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಪುಟದಿಂದ ಕೊನೆಯ ಪುಟದವರೆಗೂ ಕೇವಲ 'ತೆಂಗಿನ ಕಾಯಿ'ಯ ಜಾಹೀರಾತುಗಳೆ ತುಂಬಿರುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಇಷ್ಟೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರೂ ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ ವಿಜಯ ಸಂಕೇಶ್ವರರೇ ಗೆಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿಲ್ವಲ್ಲಾ!! ಛೇ !!! ಆಮೇಲೆ ವಿಜಯ ಸಂಕೇಶ್ವರರು ಜನತಾದಳ ಸೇರಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರೀ ಜನತಾದಳದ್ದೇ ಸುದ್ದಿ.

ಆದರೆ ವಿಜಯ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ನಂ 1 ಏಕೆ ಎಂಬುದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಯಕ್ಷಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ !! ವಿಜಯ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಸಂಪಾದಕೀಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿಗಿಂತ ಕೆಲವು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಲೇಖನಗಳು ಬರುತ್ತವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಕೇವಲ ಸಂಪಾದಕ್ಕೀಯಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಜನ ವಿಜಯ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಓದುತ್ತಾರ ?

ಬಹುಶಃ ಬಹಳ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪ್ರಸಾರ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿ ಜನರಿಗೆ Monotonous ಆಯ್ತೇ ??

ಆದರೂ ನನಗೆ ಈಗಲೂ ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿ ಎಂದರೆ ಅದೇನೋ ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಅದೇನೋ ಗೌರವ. ಬಿಡಿಸಲಾಗದ ನಂಟು ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತೆ !!!!

ಕನ್ನಡ ಟೀವಿ ವಾಹಿನಿಗಳು....

ಈ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಟೀವಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರಿ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗಳಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಹೊಸ ಹೊಸ ವಾಹಿನಿಗಳು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಹೊಸ ಬಗೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು. ಈಗ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ಕೇವಲ ದೂರದರ್ಶನದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವಲಂಬಿತವಾಗಿರಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲ.

ಕನ್ನಡ ಟೀವಿ ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಉದಯ ಟೀವಿ ಬಹಳ ಮೊದಲೇ ಬಂದಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟ (ಈಗಲೂ) ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕಷ್ಟೆ. ಆದರೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಟೀವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಮೊದಲು ತಂದಿದ್ದು ಈ ಟೀವಿ. ದೂರದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ 'ಮಾಯಮೃಗ'ದಂತಹ ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿ ಪ್ರಸಾರವಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೂ ದೂರದರ್ಶನ ವಾಹಿನಿ ಸಮಗ್ರವಾಗಿತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ.

ಈ ಟೀವಿ ಮೊದಲಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಕೂಡ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ, ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದ, ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗೆ ಹತ್ತಿರವಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸಾರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಬಹುಶಃ ಈ ಟೀವಿಯವರ ಧ್ಯೇಯ 'ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಂದ, ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗಾಗಿ' ಎಂಬಂತಿದೆ. ಆಂಧ್ರದ ರಾಮೋಜಿ ರಾವ್ ಈ ಟೀವಿಯ ಒಡೆಯರಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ, ಈ ಟೀವಿ ಎಂದೂ ತೆಲುಗಿನ ಈ ಟೀವಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಭಟ್ಟಿ ಇಳಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಉದಯ ಟೀವಿ ತಮಿಳಿನ ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿಗಳನ್ನು, ಗೇಮ್ ಶೋಗಳನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಭಟ್ಟಿಯಿಳಿಸಿದೆ.

ಈ ಟೀವಿಯ ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿಗಳ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟ ಕೂಡ ಹೆಚ್ಚು. ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗುವ ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿಗಳು ಒಂದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಒಂದು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿವೆ. ಅವುಗಳ ಕಥೆ, ನಿರ್ದೇಶನ ಸೊಗಸಾಗಿವೆ. ನಟ-ನಟಿಯರ ಅಭಿನಯವೂ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದೆ. ನನಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟವಾದ ಕೆಲವು ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿಗಳು 'ಪಾ ಪ ಪಾಂಡು', 'ಮಳೆಬಿಲ್ಲು', 'ಸಿಲ್ಲಿ ಲಲ್ಲಿ', 'ಮುಕ್ತ', 'ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಮೇಲೆ', 'ಗುಪ್ತಗಾಮಿನಿ'.... 'ಕ್ರೈಂ ಡೈರಿ' ಕೂಡ ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ರವಿ ಬೆಳಗೆರೆ ಅವರ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆ ನಿರೂಪಣೆ ಬಹಳ ಸೊಗಸು. ಬಹುಶಃ ಈ ಟೀವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಅದರ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ 'ಈ ಟೀವಿ ನ್ಯೂಸ್'. ಅದರ ಸಮಗ್ರತೆ ಮೆಚ್ಚಬೇಕಾದದ್ದು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಮೂಲೆ ಮೂಲೆಗಳಿಂದ ಸುದ್ದಿಯನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಜತೆಗೆ ಸುದ್ದಿಯ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಕೂಡ ಲಭ್ಯ. ಈ ಟೀವಿಯ ಈ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವನ್ನು ಬೇರೆ ವಾಹಿನಿಗಳೂ ಕೂಡ ಪಾಲಿಸಬೇಕು. ಗಂಟೆಗೊಮ್ಮೆ ಪ್ರಸಾರವಗುವ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಸುದ್ದಿಗಳೂ ಮೆಚ್ಚುವಂತಹದ್ದು. ಉದಯ ಟೀವಿಯ ನ್ಯೂಸ್ ಕಳಪೆ ಮಟ್ಟದ್ದು.

ಈ ಟೀವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸಾರವಾದ 'ರಸ ಋಷಿಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ', 'ಬೇಂದ್ರೆ ಮಾಸ್ತರ'ರಿಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಮ್ಮ ಕವಿಗಳ ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗೆ ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಿದವು. 'ಎದೆ ತುಂಬಿ ಹಾಡುವೆನು', 'ಹಾಡಿಗೊಂದು ಹಾಡು', 'ಮಾಯ ಬಜಾರ್', 'ಪಂಚತಂತ್ರ', 'ಒಂದು ಮಾತು' ಬಹಳ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿವೆ. ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಸಾರವಗುತ್ತಿರುವ 'ರಾಗ ರಂಜಿನಿ' ಜನರಿಗೆ ಸಂಗೀತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆಗಿನ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ಈ ಟೀವಿ ಕೇವಲ ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿ, ಸುದ್ದಿಗಳಿಗಷ್ಟೆ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸಾರವಗುವ 'ನೇರ ಪ್ರಸಾರ'ದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಬಹಳ ಸುಂದರ. ಶೃಂಗೇರಿಯ ನವರಾತ್ರಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು, ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಜನ್ಮಾಷ್ಟಮಿ, ಮಂತ್ರಾಲಯದ ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರರ ಆರಾಧನೆ, ಶ್ರವಣಬೆಳಗೊಳದ ಮಹಮಸ್ತಕಾಭಿಷೇಕ - ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡ ಸೊಗಸಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಸಾರ ಮಾಡಿತು. ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ ಪ್ರಭು, ಅಪರ್ಣರವರ ನಿರೂಪಣೆ ಆ ನೇರ ಪ್ರಸಾರಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೆರಗು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಉದಯದವರು ಸನ್ ಟೀವಿಯ ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿ, ಗೇಮ್ ಶೋಗಳನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ತರುವ ಬದಲು ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಸಾರ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಈ ಟೀವಿ ಮುಂದೆ ಬರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕನ್ನಡ ವಾಹಿನಿಗಳಿಗೆ, ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗೆ ಎಂತಹ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿದೆ.

ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಬಂದಿರುವ ಝೀ ಕನ್ನಡ ಈ ಟೀವಿಯ ಹಾದಿಯಲ್ಲೆ ನಡೆದಿದೆ. ಹೊಸ ಹೊಸ ಬಗೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸಾರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಮುಂದೆ ಝೀ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಯಿದೆ.

ಯಾವುದೇ ವಾಹಿನಿ ತನ್ನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸತನವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಆಗಲೇ ಅದು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯ.

A Lawn ??

Bangalore is (or rather was) known for its Gardens, Lawns, Trees.

Now a days BMP is taking keen interest in developing parks. These parks contain lawns, some showy plants, shrubs... But the biggest BLUNDER they are doing is........

For every park they are developing, they are boring a well in each park. When the water table of the Bangalore city is depleting, how can BMP do such a big blunder by drawing potable ground water for watering lawns. Adding to this decreasing area of water bodies inside the city !!!

What does a lawn do other than just looking beautiful ?? The lawn needs huge amount of water... But is this lawn needed against the depleting water table ??

The BMP must plant trees in all the parks instead of the lawns.. The trees draw much less water and help in expanding the lung space for the ever growing cities... Why does BMP take such steps without proper study ?

Sankethi...

Sankethi refers to a group of people as well as a language. I am also one in that group.

Sankethi is one of those few languages in the world in which a group of people migrate to different place, and will not keep any relation with their native place which results in the independent evolution of the lanuguage. Some other examples are a group of distinct German in US, Tamil spoken by Fishermen in Srilanka.

Sankethis have their origin in Shenkkotah near Kanyakumari in Tamil nadu. 'Sankethi' is actually derived from 'Shenkkotah' !! Sankethis migrated from Shenkkotah during the period of VijayaNagar empire to Karnataka. The exact reason for the migration is not known, there are some stories about that.

Sankethi has evolved into a different language from Tamil. Tamil spoken in Kanyakumari is different from Tamil in Madurai or Trichy and it has Malayalam infulence on it. Hence Sankethi has same features as Malayalam. Sankethi has its roots in Tamil, hence about 75% of the language is Tamil, some Malayalam. During the course of evolution Sankethi has got many words from Kannada. But Sankethi could be hardly understood by a Kannadiga or Tamilian though both of them find familiar words.

ವಿವಿಧತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏಕತೆ ???

ಇದು ನಿಜವೇ ? ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವಿಧತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏಕತೆ ಇದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಇದು ನಿಜವೆ?

ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಷೆಯಿದೆ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯಿದೆ. ಇದು ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ದೇಶದ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ ಪೂರಕವಗಿದೆಯೆ ? ಭಾರತದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳು ದಿನವೂ ಜಗಳವಾಡುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಇದು ಕೇವಲ ರಾಜಕೀಯವೋ ಅಥವಾ ಜನರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯವೂ ಹೌದೆ ? ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ತನ್ನ ಸುತ್ತ ಇರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ಜತೆ ಯಾವುದಾದರೊಂದು ವಿಷಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧವನ್ನು ಹಾಳು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಗೋವದ ಜೊತೆ ಮಹಾದಾಯಿ ವಿಷಯಕ್ಕೆ, ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾವೇರಿ ವಿಷಯಕ್ಕೆ, ಆಂಧ್ರದ ಜತೆಗೆ ಕೃಷ್ಣೆಯ ವಿಷಯಕ್ಕೆ. ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಜತೆಗೆ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಬಂದಾಗಿಂದಾಗಲು ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ವಿಷಯಕ್ಕೆ.... ಇನ್ನು ಕೇರಳದ ಜತೆ ಇದ್ದಿದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ವಾಸಿ. ಬಹುಶಃ ಕಾಸರಗೋಡು ಮುಂದೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಬಹುದು.

ಏಕೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಹೀಗೆ ? ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತ ಇರುವ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕೆ ಅನ್ಯಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿವೆಯೇ ??? ಅಥವಾ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಲ್ಲೇ ಏನೋ ಕೊರತೆ ಇದೆಯೇ ?? ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಾದರೋ ಒಂದು Insecurity feeling ಇದೆಯಾ ??

ಬಹುಶಃ ಭಾರತವನ್ನು ಭಾಷೆಯ ಆಧಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಂಗಡಿಸಿದ್ದೆ ತಪ್ಪಾಯಿತೆ ? ಇಡೀ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದೆ ಭಾಷೆ ಇದ್ದಿದ್ದರೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿರುತ್ತಿತ್ತಲ್ವೆ ? ಈ ದಿನಾ ನಡೆಯುವ ಜಗಳ, ಉಚ್ಛ ನ್ಯಾಯಲಯದ ಹೋರಾಟಗಳು ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅಲ್ಲವೆ ? ನಮ್ಮ ನದಿಗಳು ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದೇ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿದಿದ್ದರೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು ಅಲ್ವೆ ? ಕಾವೇರಿ ಎಷ್ಟು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿರುತ್ತಿತ್ತಲ್ಲವೆ ? ಕನ್ನಡ ಮೇಲೋ ? ತಮಿಳು ಮೇಲೋ ಅಥವಾ ತೆಲುಗು ಮೇಲೋ ವಿಷಯಗಳೇ ಇರುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾವೆಲ್ಲ ಎಷ್ಟು ಸ್ವಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಅಲ್ಲವೆ ? ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ನಮಗೇ ಬೇಕು ಎನ್ನುವ ಮನೋಭಾವ ಏತಕ್ಕೆ ? ನಾವು ಮೇಲು ಎಂಬ ವಿಷಯ ಏಕೆ ?

ಈ ತರಹದ ಜಗಳಗಳು ಕೇವಲ ನಮ್ಮ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲೇ ಇವೆಯೆ? ಅಥವಾ ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಬೇರೆ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಇವೆಯೆ ?

ಈ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನನಗೆ ಉತ್ತರ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ Regionalism ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಒಡೆಯುತ್ತಿವೆ... ಬಹುಶಃ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶವನ್ನು "ವಿವಿಧತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏಕತೆ" ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವುದನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಬೇಕಷ್ಟೆ !
